Oxaliplatin
Indications/Uses
Metastatic colorectal cancer in combination w/ 5-fluorouracil & folinic acid.
Dosage/Direction for Use
85 mg/m2 IV infusion over 2-6 hr. Dose may be repeated at intervals of 2 wk. Adjuvant treatment: 65 mg/m2 for 12 cycles.
Contraindications
History of known allergy or other platinum compd. Preexisting sensory neuropathies, myelosuppression, severe renal impairment.
Special Precautions
Pulmonary fibrosis; cough & dyspnea. Increased transaminases & alkaline phosphate. Avoid cold drinks, use of ice & cover exposed skin to cold temperatures or objects. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Peripheral sensory neuropathy, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, nausea, increase transaminases & alkaline phosphatase, diarrhea, emesis, fatigue & stomatitis.
